Kilimanjaro
The Boys Have Returned Home
This March, CWT Peterborough's Owner/President Scott Stewart and some
friends set out on a once-in-a-lifetime personal challenge to conquer Mount
Kilimanjaro!
On March 18th the trio departed for Tanzania, Africa to complete the 60 km
trek to the 19,340 foot summit & on March 27th the guys crossed this off
their bucket lists and reached the top!
This was no easy feat! While "Kili" might be considered the highest
"walkable" mountain in the world, it's the highest mountain in Africa. It's
also considered by mountain enthusiasts to be one of the "big seven"
summits, the definitive list of the highest mountains on seven continents
that includes Mt. Denali and Mt. Everest.
That's why they decided to make this trip count. In a show of solidarity,
Scott & Friends chose to dedicate their climb to men who are battling
prostate cancer, the most common cancer for men.
To demonstrate their support, the team pledged to raise $60,000 for the
Closer Campaign - a $2.5 million investment to expand cancer services at our
local hospital (Peterborough Regional Health Centre) and bring cancer
treatments closer to home. The guys ended up exceeding their goal and were
able to raise over $100,000.00!
